Senegal is preparing its bid to host the 2032 Africa Cup of Nations
The country of the Lions of Teranga aims to host the continental tournament for the first time since the 1992 edition.
Senegal is pulling out all the stops for its bid to host the 2032 Africa Cup of Nations. The statement was made by the Minister for Youth and Sport, Khady Diene Gaye, on Monday before members of the National Assembly of Senegal, according to local media reports.
Senegal is indeed preparing its bid dossier in order to host the Africa Cup of Nations in 2032. However, the dossier will not be submitted in 2032. That date refers instead to the year envisaged for hosting the competition in our country, the minister explained.
If Senegal succeeds in securing the right to host the continental tournament, it will be the second time in its history that it has hosted the competition. That said, it will be forty years after hosting its first Africa Cup of Nations.
For its bid, Senegal can rely on its existing sports infrastructure, notably the Stade Abdoulaye-Wade and the Stade Léopold-Sédar-Senghor. Other facilities are also in the pipeline.
