Senegal FA Consider Tunisia's Sacked 2026 World Cup Coach as Option After Pape Thiaw Exit
The Senegal Football Federation are reportedly considering former Tunisia head coach Hervé Renard as a potential replacement for Pape Thiaw following his reported departure from the national team.
Thiaw is understood to have left his position after Senegal's disappointing 3-2 Round of 32 defeat to Belgium at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with several reports claiming he and his coaching staff stepped down amid growing pressure.
Renard has now emerged as one of the leading candidates to take over the Lions of Teranga. The experienced French coach recently left Tunisia after a disappointing World Cup campaign in which the Carthage Eagles failed to progress beyond the group stage.
Tunisia failed to pick up a point at the tournament, suffering defeats to Sweden, Japan, and the Netherlands.
Although the Senegalese Football Federation has yet to make an official announcement, Renard is reportedly among the top candidates being considered to lead the Lions of Teranga into their next chapter.
