Senegal extended the contract with national team head coach

The Senegalese Football Federation has announced the extension of the contract with the head coach of the national team, Aliou Cissé.

The new agreement with the coach will run until 2026. Consequently, the 47-year-old Senegalese expert will lead the team in the upcoming African Cup of Nations and the qualifying matches for the 2026 World Cup. The previous contract of the national team's coach expired on June 30, 2024.

A former player of "Lille", "PSG", "Birmingham", and "Portsmouth", he has been leading the Senegalese national team since 2015. Under his guidance, Senegal won the African Cup of Nations in 2021 and reached the final in 2019, where they were defeated by the Algerian national team (0:1).

It's worth noting that at the 2023 African Cup of Nations, the Senegalese national team ended their campaign at the round of 16 stage. They suffered a defeat against the eventual trophy holders, the Ivorian national team (1:1, 4:5 on penalties).
