Down to 10 men, the Young Lions pulled off a stunning victory.
Senegal showed resilience and clinical finishing against Ghana on Sunday at the U17 Africa Cup of Nations. The young Senegalese side were reduced to 10 men in the first half following El Hadji Ibrahima Sow’s sending-off for a red card.
But the Senegalese refused to give up. Ghana were awarded a penalty, but Senegalese goalkeeper Assane Sarr saved it. Following this heroic save, which kept the Young Lions in the game, Ibrahima Dione stole the show. He opened the scoring for Senegal. It was the only goal that secured a precious victory for the young Senegalese side at the final whistle.
Senegal’s final group stage match will be against Algeria next Wednesday.
