Hull City defender Semi Ajayi is set to spend up to two months on the sidelines after picking up a hamstring injury while on international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The Nigerian international sustained the injury during Nigeria’s third-place playoff clash against Egypt. Ajayi was visibly struggling late in the game and eventually limped off the pitch during stoppage time, immediately sparking concerns about the severity of the issue.

Medical scans carried out after the match have now confirmed damage to his hamstring. As a result, the centre-back is expected to be out of action for approximately seven weeks, ruling him out of several crucial fixtures for Hull City.
