Second only to Messi: Mbappé makes Champions League history
Real Madrid traveled to face Atalanta in the sixth round of the UEFA Champions League, where Kylian Mbappé etched his name into the tournament's history books.
Details: The French forward opened the scoring in the 10th minute of the match. This goal marked Mbappé’s 50th in 79 UEFA Champions League appearances. According to Opta, he became the second-youngest player in the tournament’s history to reach this milestone at 25 years and 356 days. The only player to achieve it younger was Lionel Messi, who reached the mark at 24 years and 284 days.
Recently, Mbappé admitted that the start of the season hasn’t been ideal, either for him personally or for the team as a whole. However, despite the challenges, they remain in contention for all trophies.
The Frenchman also shared his thoughts on playing alongside Lionel Messi. According to Mbappé, the Argentine does everything at the highest level.
Reminder: the French forward recently spoke about his complicated relationship with France’s head coach Didier Deschamps. Mbappé hasn’t played for the national team since September, missing their matches in October and November.
