Puebla FC has parted ways with Paraguayan center back Sebastián Olmedo, but the financial burden remains. As reported by local outlet Grada, the 23-year-old defender will continue to receive salary payments from the club until May 2026, despite transferring to Club Atlético Tembetary in Paraguay.
Olmedo had been out of favor since the 2025 Clausura and was no longer part of Puebla’s plans. After struggling to offload him for months, the club reached a financial agreement to facilitate his departure. The deal includes continued monthly payments for the two remaining tournaments on his contract.
The defender originally signed in June 2023 with a $5 million release clause. While his exact wages remain undisclosed, the terms of the buyout underscore the financial challenges facing the club.
Although no longer on the roster, Olmedo’s departure still impacts Puebla’s payroll, highlighting the club’s ongoing struggle to stabilize its finances while rebuilding its squad.
