Ajax have been dealt one of the worst possible blows in the middle of the season.

Details: According to the latest update, Ajax striker Kasper Dolberg has suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament and will not play for the Amsterdam club again this season. The serious knee injury was sustained while the forward was training with the Denmark national team during the international break.

The circumstances of the injury had already been officially confirmed by Ajax. On September 22, the Dutch club announced that Dolberg had damaged his knee during a Denmark training session and would return to Amsterdam. At that stage, Ajax did not specify the exact diagnosis, only stating that the striker had suffered a knee injury.

The new information makes the scale of the setback much clearer. A torn ACL means Dolberg's 2026/27 campaign with Ajax is over, leaving the forward unavailable for the remainder of the club season.

Dolberg had remained part of Denmark's plans during the international window before the training-ground incident forced him to leave the national-team camp. Ajax will now have to continue their campaign without one of their senior centre-forwards.

It is worth noting that Ajax's official player profile lists Dolberg under contract until June 30, 2029. The Danish striker has made six Eredivisie appearances and three UEFA Conference League appearances for the club in the 2026/27 season.
