The highlight of the tournament was the fight for the UFC bantamweight championship, defended by the reigning champion Sean O'Malley from the United States against the challenger from Ecuador, Marlon Vera.

Vera attempted to engage his opponent and acted quite openly, which resulted in him receiving several heavy blows. By the third round, his face was marked with numerous cuts, and doctors were seen wiping blood from his face during breaks.

In turn, the reigning champion acted extremely cautiously, waiting for opportune moments to strike. At the start of the rounds, he allowed his opponent to attack and often circled away from him around the octagon, but then initiated his own attacks.

Despite this, the Ecuadorian managed to withstand until the end of the match, and the decision of the winner had to be determined by the judges. Sean O'Malley was unanimously declared the winner by the judges, thus defending his championship title.
