The first match day of the second round of UEFA Euro 2024 will end with a match between Scotland and Switzerland.

Both teams started the tournament in different moods. Scotland lost 1-5 to Germany and also lost their defender Ryan Porteous for the rest of the group stage as the player is suspended for two matches.

The Swiss team, who beat Hungary 3-1 in the first round, also have losses. Dennis Zakaria and Steven Zuber did not take part in this match, and Murat Yakin may have to do without them in the meeting with the Scots.

But the specialist himself, despite the different results of the meetings, is not sure that the Tartans will give up three points so easily and they will fight on the pitch. But, Yakin knows the secret of success over the Scots, and it is not even a victory, but a lot of running and fighting on the field.

Scotland head coach Steve Clarke also believes in his team:

"We believe in ourselves. There is no danger that we don't. We know it was a bad night. We have to take the criticism that is levelled at us, but we have to try and put things right.

Sometimes it's difficult to explain to people who are not involved in professional football. Players have to be resilient because this game, especially club football, is full of emotions. You can have a terrible result on Saturday and on Tuesday or Wednesday night be ready for the return match. So it's a rollercoaster of emotions."

On a more substantive note, the void created by Porteous' absence could be filled by Grant Haley or Scott McKenna. Billy Gilmour was surprisingly not in the starting line-up against the Germans but is an obvious candidate for a place in the starting line-up, while Che Adams was largely invisible against the Germans - though through no fault of his own - and could make way for Lawrence Shankland.

Nevertheless, Zakaria and Zuber have been training in the main group of the Swiss national team, so we can assume their participation in the match against Scotland, although the former may be left out of the main squad.

More obvious possibility of disciplinary suspensions for the upcoming game with Germany, if Sylvan Wieder and Remo Fröhler receive warnings against Scotland. Surprisingly, the Swiss head coach is also on the verge of a one-match suspension after a yellow card during the match against Hungary.

Based on these facts, the Dailysports team has prepared predicted line-ups for the Scotland vs Switzerland match.

Scotland predicted line-up

Gunn; Hendry, Hanley, Tierney; Ralston, Gilmour, McTominay, Robertson; McGinn, Christie; Shankland.

Switzerland predicted line-up

The Scotland vs Switzerland match will take place on 19 June. The starting whistle at the Rhein Energie Stadion in Cologne will sound at 21:00 CET.
