Scandal! Renowned football agent to stand trial for rape
One of the world's most prominent football agents, Jonathan Barnett, has become the subject of a criminal investigation in London.
Details: According to The Times, the football agent is accused of raping and torturing a woman whom he allegedly kept as a "sex slave."
The alleged victim claims she was brought from Australia to the UK in 2017 and held until 2023. She states that Barnett raped her at least 39 times. The agent vehemently denies the allegations, insisting the relationship was consensual and that he paid the woman over £1 million after they separated.
Barnett is currently out on bail while the investigation continues. Police have not disclosed further details, but the case has already sparked significant public outcry in the UK due to the high profile of the accused.
Jonathan Barnett acted as an intermediary in Gareth Bale's record-breaking transfer to Real Madrid in the summer of 2013, when Tottenham received €100 million for the Welshman.
