Scaloni Regains Key Players but Will Miss Tagliafico Against Colombia

Already qualified for the 2026 World Cup, Argentina will face Colombia on Tuesday at the Monumental with some forced changes. Head coach Lionel Scaloni won’t be able to call on left-back Nicolás Tagliafico, who is suspended after picking up a yellow card in the win over Chile. Valentín Barco and Facundo Medina are the top candidates to replace him.
Several other players are walking a disciplinary tightrope: Julián Álvarez, Rodrigo De Paul, Lautaro Martínez, Exequiel Palacios, Thiago Almada, and Giovani Lo Celso are one booking away from suspension.
On the bright side, Scaloni welcomes back four key players: Nicolás Otamendi, Leandro Paredes, Enzo Fernández, and Nicolás González have all served their suspensions and are available again. Their return will bring depth and balance across the squad, as Argentina looks to maintain its strong form despite already securing a spot in the next World Cup.
