Saving money didn't work out. Benfica has turned down PSG and Man United to sign the young talent
Benfica's 19-year-old midfielder Joao Neves has been attracting interest from top clubs for a long time, but they are unwilling to overpay for him, which does not please the Portuguese grande dame.
According to A Bola, the young midfielder is being chased by Manchester United and PSG, who have sent transfer offers of 60 and 70 million euros to Lisbon. But, these offers have not found enthusiasm in Benfica's offices.
"Eagles" demand to activate a clausula around 120 million euros or at least start negotiations from the 100 million euro mark. Otherwise, it will not be possible for any of the suitors to get the young midfielder.
But, it is believed that even the rich PSG will not come close to this amount, so it is unlikely that the transfer can happen.
Now Benfica's aim is to extend the contract with the young talent and increase his salary, but negotiations are difficult and the first offer of the deal ended in failure.
