Saudi Arabia has submitted a bid to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup
Saudi Arabia has submitted a bid to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup, according to BBC reports.
As the sole candidate for the tournament, Saudi Arabia has utilized the slogan "Growing Together" in its bid. According to the president of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation, Yasser Al-Misehal, the slogan reflects the connection between the kingdom, its people, and global football.
Despite being the only contender to host the World Cup, Saudi Arabia must officially submit its bid in accordance with FIFA regulations. The organization's congress will approve the Saudi bid later this year. Additionally, it's reported that Saudi Arabia has invested approximately five billion pounds sterling in sports since 2021.
Initially, Australia was considered a favorite to host the World Cup, as the continent has never hosted such a large-scale football tournament. However, the leadership of the Football Federation of Australia announced that the country would not bid to host the tournament.
It's worth noting that the current reigning world champion is Lionel Messi and the Argentine national team.
