Neymar’s future appears set to remain tied to Santos, the club where it all began. According to Doble Amarilla, the Brazilian star is close to signing a contract extension that would keep him at the “Peixe” beyond December 2025. The deal is expected to be finalized and announced this Friday, when the squad returns to training.

Marcelo Teixeira, president of Santos, recently met with Neymar’s father to iron out the final details. The proposed extension would exceed the initial six-month agreement, marking a deeper commitment to the club that gave Neymar his professional start.

In a recent interview, Neymar hinted strongly at his desire to stay. “From 0 to 10? I’d say 7,” he joked when asked about his chances of staying. He then added: “My story with this club will never disappear. I was born here, and I want to die here. It’s my home, the team of my heart.”

Since returning earlier this year, Neymar has featured in just 14 matches and scored three goals. A series of injuries has limited his playing time, but his aim remains unchanged: to regain fitness and rediscover his happiness on the pitch.

Beyond the numbers, Neymar’s return has served as a morale boost for a club enduring a turbulent season. His renewed presence has not gone unnoticed by the national team either—he was listed in the final call-ups by Dórival Junior and included in Carlo Ancelotti’s first Brazil squad. A formal renewal could signal not just a new chapter, but the reaffirmation of an emotional bond that never truly faded.
