Santos Aims to Appoint High-Profile Football Director Within a Week

Santos FC is working to appoint a new sporting director by next week following the resignation of CEO Pedro Martins earlier this week. As reported by UOL, club president Marcelo Teixeira is targeting a high-profile figure to lead the football department through a pivotal phase of transition.

The main candidates under consideration are Alexandre Mattos, currently with Cruzeiro, and Fabinho Soldado, part of Corinthians’ technical staff. While discussions are ongoing, Santos does not expect a final decision before Sunday.

The club sees this appointment as essential to solidifying its sporting project and addressing growing expectations ahead of the second half of the Brazilian season. The search reflects both internal urgency and the need for renewed leadership in football operations.
