Santa Fe Fueled by Rodallega as They Chase First League Title in Years

Independiente Santa Fe is just two matches away from breaking a long championship drought in Colombian football. This Tuesday, they host Deportivo Independiente Medellín at El Campín for the first leg of the Liga BetPlay I-2025 final, as reported by Antena 2. Having topped a tough semifinal group over Millonarios, Atlético Nacional, and Once Caldas, the Bogotá-based club is riding a wave of confidence.
Though not the pre-final favorite, Santa Fe has earned belief through numbers. Striker Hugo Rodallega leads the league with 15 goals and remains the focal point of their attack. The team also boasts the best offensive output of the semester with 36 goals—ten more than Medellín.
Creative support comes from Omar Fernández and Harold Santiago Mosquera, each with six assists. Between them and Rodallega, they’ve contributed directly to 32 goals, underscoring Santa Fe’s collective strength in the final third.
While Medellín presents a defensively strong opponent, Santa Fe hopes to capitalize on home advantage in the opening leg. With a red-hot goalscorer and momentum on their side, the capital club is daring to dream again—and fans believe this might finally be the year the trophy returns to Bogotá.
