Sancho could have been at Juventus earlier. What prevented that?

Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho is close to a move to Juventus. But the disgraced player could have moved to Turin in the transfer window before.

Thus, La Gazzetta dello Sport recounts the situation from the winter transfer window, when Juventus showed interest in the winger. Sancho himself and Manchester United gave the green light to sign the player, but the move was blocked by then Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri.

He felt that signing Sancho would upset the balance within the squad right in the middle of the season, not least because at the time Juve were going fast and keeping pace with Inter, whose temporary advantage almost misled the Bianconeri fans.

Now Juventus are back in favour of the Manchester United winger, but the Turin side need to withstand competition from Chelsea, who are also keen to get their hands on him.
