San Siro will not host the 2027 Champions League final after UEFA decision. What is the reason?
The San Siro stadium will not host the 2027 Champions League final after UEFA's decision.
Details: UEFA’s Executive Committee has revoked San Siro's right to host the 2027 Champions League final. The Giuseppe Meazza stadium was initially selected in May, but there were no guarantees that it would be fully ready by that date.
The reason is that the stadium could be subject to renovation as part of Italy's preparations for Euro 2032. The renovation is expected to begin after the 2026 Winter Olympics, which will be co-hosted by Milan and other cities.
Since local authorities could not provide clear guarantees that San Siro would remain unaffected by construction in 2027, UEFA was forced to withdraw the stadium’s hosting rights and reopen the bidding process for a new venue. The final decision on the new host stadium is expected around May 2025.
