San Lorenzo has declined to play its scheduled Copa Argentina match against Quilmes on April 30, according to TyC Sports. The club's board, led by president Marcelo Moretti, rejected the proposed date at Deportivo Morón Stadium, citing its proximity to the Apertura playoffs as the main reason.

While the first team enjoys a rest day after a goalless draw against Riestra, the club’s leadership is working to reschedule the fixture to avoid interfering with their league commitments. With 26 points, San Lorenzo currently sits third in Group B and needs only one more point from its final two matches to secure a spot in the quarterfinals. They will host Rosario Central this weekend before traveling to Sarmiento for the final round.

Team captain Iker Muniain addressed the media after the match and emphasized the importance of the upcoming clash: “We want to finish the regular phase as high as possible. It’s going to be a great match against Rosario Central as both teams are fighting for top spots. We’re optimistic.”

Meanwhile, San Lorenzo paid tribute to Pope Francis, a lifelong fan of the club, who passed away earlier this week. In an emotional video shared across its official channels, the club recalled the deep connection Jorge Mario Bergoglio had with San Lorenzo, from childhood games at the old Gasómetro to heartfelt visits to the Vatican. “From Jorge Mario Bergoglio to Pope Francis, one thing never changed: his love for El Ciclón,” the message read.
