San Lorenzo has appointed Damián Ayude as the new head coach of its first team, following Miguel Ángel Russo's departure to manage Boca Juniors. The decision was confirmed by Bolavip.
Ayude, 43, has led San Lorenzo's Reserve team since April 2024, achieving notable success, including reaching the Copa Proyección final and securing a spot in the current tournament's round of 16. He has signed a contract with the club through mid-2026.
His background includes roles with Argentina's and Venezuela's youth national teams, as well as positions at clubs like León in Mexico and Cruzeiro in Brazil. Ayude's coaching staff will feature Rodrigo Lista as assistant coach, Gastón Romano and Gustavo Rojas as fitness coaches, and Juan Carlos Docabo as goalkeeping coach.
San Lorenzo's decision to promote from within underscores the club's commitment to developing internal talent and ensuring continuity in its sporting project. Ayude's first official match will be in the Copa Argentina's round of 64 against Quilmes.
