Sampaoli Linked With Shock Move to Fluminense Sampaoli Linked With Shock Move to Fluminense

Jorge Sampaoli could be on the verge of a dramatic return to South American football. According to Bolavip, the Argentine coach is among the top candidates to take over Fluminense, following the club’s decision to part ways with Mano Menezes. If confirmed, it would mark a significant turn in Sampaoli’s career, especially given his recent spell with Fluminense’s fierce rivals, Flamengo.

Sampaoli, 64, is currently without a team after a short stint with French side Rennes. The Argentine is widely recognized in South America for leading Universidad de Chile to a Copa Sudamericana title in 2011 and guiding Chile to their historic 2015 Copa América win. He later managed Argentina’s national team, as well as clubs like Sevilla, Santos, Atlético Mineiro, and Flamengo.

Joining Fluminense would represent a bold switch, given his past with Flamengo. The Tricolor sees Sampaoli as a coach with the experience and tactical profile to lead a competitive squad in both domestic and international competitions.

However, he’s not the only candidate. Portuguese coach Luis Castro, formerly of Botafogo, is also being considered for the position. A final decision is expected soon as the club seeks stability ahead of a demanding season.

For Sampaoli, the potential move offers a chance at redemption in Brazil and another shot at cementing his legacy in South American football.
