Samba Diawara leaves the coaching staff at Stade de Reims
After several years on the French club’s coaching staff, the former Malian international is moving on to take up a new challenge.
It is the end of the road for Samba Diawara at Stade de Reims after several years of working together. The Malian coach officially left his position on Tuesday 15 September, the Ligue 2 club announced.
“A member of the Red & Whites coaching staff since 2022, Samba Diawara is now turning his attention to a new project. Stade de Reims would like to thank him for his commitment and unfailing dedication during the 149 matches he spent on the Stade de Reims bench, 23 of which were as head coach.”
Samba Diawara’s next destination has not yet been officially announced. However, sources suggest that the former Malian international defender is heading for the Moroccan national team. The Royal Moroccan Football Federation wishes to bring Samba Diawara into Mohamed Ouahbi’s coaching staff.
This information could be confirmed, as Stade de Reims states in its farewell message that “Samba’s departure reflects his desire to seize an opportunity elsewhere that has presented itself to him.”
