Samba Diawara joins Will Still’s coaching staff at Auxerre

The former Malian international is embarking on a new chapter in his coaching career.

AJ Auxerre announced the arrival of Samba Diawara on Tuesday 22 September. The Malian tactician has been appointed as assistant manager of the Ligue 1 club. “AJ Auxerre is delighted to announce the arrival of Samba Diawara to the coaching staff as assistant manager.”

Samba Diawara will support Will Still, the French club’s head coach. The 48-year-old Malian replaces Jean-Alain Boumsong on the AJ Auxerre coaching staff.

Samba Diawara arrives in Auxerre just a few days after leaving the Reims coaching staff, which he had joined in 2022. Some sources had suggested he was heading to Morocco to work alongside Mohamed Ouahbi. However, the Malian tactician is staying in France.

At AJ Auxerre, Samba Diawara is reunited with Will Still, with whom he worked at Reims. The Malian tactician served as caretaker head coach on two occasions at Stade de Reims.
