Salim Diakite will play for Zulte Waregem this season

The Malian international has joined the Belgian Pro League club on a season-long loan with an option to buy.

Salim Diakite is switching leagues for the 2026–2027 season. The 26-year-old Malian right-back has left Palermo in Italy to join Zulte Waregem in Belgium.

He has joined the Belgian club on a season-long loan with an option to buy. If the Malian manages to impress the Belgian club’s management at the end of the 2026–2027 season, he may not return to Italy.

Upon his arrival at his new club, Salim Diakite expressed his pride.

“I’m very excited about taking this next step in my career. I had a very good feeling about the team right from our first conversations and was quickly convinced to come to Waregem. Now that I’ve had the chance to meet everyone and see the facilities, I can’t wait to represent Essevee.”
