Mohamed Salah missed a very important penalty during Liverpool's 2-0 victory against Real Madrid on Wednesday in the UEFA Champions League group stage. The Egyptian player, who usually scores from penalties, made a mistake in the 68th minute after being fouled by Ferland Mendy inside the penalty area.
Even though Salah caused the penalty himself, his shot went wide of the right goalpost, which was the 11th penalty he has missed in his career. Out of 55 penalties taken in all competitions, Salah has successfully scored 44, showing a good overall record even though he has had some recent difficulties.
However, the blunder did not cost Liverpool because they won handily at Anfield, maintaining their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League. In the next games for Liverpool, Salah will want to get back to his best.
