Salah Returns to Liverpool Squad After Tense Week
Egyptian star Mohamed Salah has been recalled to Liverpool’s matchday squad for Sunday’s Premier League clash against Brighton & Hove Albion at Anfield.
Sky Sports reports that the 2017 African Player of the Year is back after being left out of the midweek game against Inter. His omission followed a turbulent week sparked by a frank interview that drew criticism from fans and former players. Salah voiced frustration after the 3–3 draw with Leeds, saying promises were broken and claiming someone at the club “doesn’t want me here.”
Liverpool reportedly benched him to ease tension rather than punish him. Former Burnley striker Charlie Austin insisted the forward remains vital, saying, “He’s Liverpool’s talisman, he’s their best player,” while noting the team’s struggles without him are “no surprise.” Salah’s return suggests an attempt to restore stability, though uncertainty remains as January speculation, including Saudi interest, continues this season.
