The group stage matches of Champions League matchday 6 took place on December 10–11.

Liverpool remains the only team with a perfect record. Bayer snatched a last-second victory in their trademark style, while Inter conceded their first goal of the tournament.

Thiago Motta and Hansi Flick used super-subs to secure wins over Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund, respectively. Humble Brest and Lille find themselves in the top eight, while two former champions of the competition risk missing out on the playoffs.

Here’s the Champions League matchday 6 team of the week:

Goalkeeper: Marco Bizot (Brest)

PSV’s inability to settle the match in the first half was all down to Bizot’s heroics. Over 38 minutes in the first half, he made four crucial saves to deny seemingly certain goals. Bizot maintained his clean sheet in the second half, notably saving Ricardo Pepi’s shot in the 77th minute. He became the first goalkeeper in nine months to prevent PSV from scoring.

Bizot recorded five saves, including four from outside the box, one punched clearance, and two ball recoveries, earning the Man of the Match honor in Brest’s clash against PSV.

Centre-back: Federico Gatti (Juventus)

Against the English champions, Gatti registered four clearances and two blocked shots. His passing accuracy stood at 90% (27 out of 30).

In the 53rd minute, Gatti intercepted the ball in defense, moved it forward, and unleashed a bicycle kick after a pass from the flank. Ederson parried the shot, but Dusan Vlahovic converted from the subsequent play to open the scoring for Juventus.

Centre-back: Nicolás Otamendi (Benfica)

The 36-year-old captain delivered an outstanding performance with six clearances, three interceptions, three tackles, and one blocked shot. His passing accuracy stood at 88%. Additionally, he won 8 out of 11 aerial duels and 4 out of 6 on the ground, earning the best defensive rating of the matchday.

Right-back: Nordi Mukiele (Bayer Leverkusen)

Mukiele contributed four clearances, one tackle, and two interceptions against Inter. On the ground, he won three of his four duels.

In the 90th minute, the Frenchman first attempted a bicycle kick after a corner but eventually scored the decisive goal after a pass from Martin Terrier, breaking Inter’s 573-minute Champions League clean sheet streak.

Left-back: Nuno Mendes (PSG)

In PSG’s away game against Salzburg, Mendes recorded two clearances, two tackles, and one interception. Three of his four long passes were accurate, and he won both aerial duels while losing just one ground duel out of seven.

In the 72nd minute, he surged into Salzburg’s penalty area and scored through two defenders.

Defensive midfielder: Ryan Gravenberch (Liverpool)

A break from Premier League action rejuvenated Gravenberch, who looked sharp in this match.

The Dutch midfielder completed 95% of his passes (54 out of 57), won five ground duels, made seven defensive actions, and delivered one key pass.

Left midfielder: Jude Bellingham (Real Madrid)

Bellingham scored in his fourth consecutive game and initiated the play that led to Vinicius’ goal. Additionally, he delivered two incisive passes that Antonio Rudiger and Rodrygo failed to capitalize on.

Bellingham recorded nine duels won, succeeded in five out of seven dribbles, and contributed a clearance, tackle, and two interceptions.

Right midfielder: Michael Olise (Bayern Munich)

Against Shakhtar, Olise provided an assist in the first half and scored Bayern’s third and fifth goals in the second. He earned and converted a penalty in the 70th minute and capped the match with a dazzling solo goal in added time.

Olise registered two key passes, six successful dribbles out of nine attempts, and won 11 out of 16 ground duels.

Right winger: Bukayo Saka (Arsenal)

The 23-year-old Englishman was involved in all three of Arsenal’s goals. In the 37th minute, he finished Gabriel Jesus’ pass, doubled the lead in the 78th after intercepting a defensive error, and assisted Kai Havertz’s late goal.

Left winger: Ademola Lookman (Atalanta)

Lookman was Atalanta’s most dangerous player against Real Madrid, attempting six shots, three on target. In the 65th minute, he beat Thibaut Courtois with a near-post strike.

Lookman also delivered two key passes and completed 88% of his attempts.

Striker: Ferran Torres (Barcelona)

Torres proved to be the ultimate super-sub against Borussia Dortmund. Coming off the bench, he scored with his first touch in the 71st minute and netted the winning goal 10 minutes later after receiving a pass from Lamine Yamal.

In just 20 minutes on the field, he completed three out of four passes.

Coach: Thiago Motta (Juventus)

Against Manchester City, Motta’s side employed classic Italian tactics, blending solid defense with clinical counterattacks. By closing central spaces and forcing City to play down the flanks, Juventus neutralized their threats and displayed tactical flexibility.

Motta’s super-subs, Timothy Weah and Weston McKennie, combined for the second goal just six minutes after their introduction.
