Sad News as NFF Confirms the Death of NFRA President Sani Zubairu

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed the death of the President of the Nigeria Football Referees Association (NFRA), Hon. Sani Zubairu.

Zubairu passed away in the early hours of Tuesday, March 24, 2026, after a brief illness, bringing a wave of grief across the Nigerian football community.

In a statement issued shortly after the announcement, NFRA Chairman Patrick Pascal described the late Zubairu as a highly respected figure whose influence extended far beyond officiating.

“His death is a huge loss, not just to Bauchi State but to Nigerian football as a whole,” Pascal said. “He was a mentor, a leader, and a guiding light to many young referees.”
