Running for the presidency of the Nigerian Football Federation, Obi Mikel announces his priorities

The former Nigerian midfielder, John Obi Mikel, has revealed his priorities should he become president of the Nigerian Football Federation. The main elements on which John Obi Mikel wants to build his governance are transparency and the fight against corruption.

The former captain of the Super Eagles wants to put an end to bad practices.

« Once again, I don't want to be associated with corruption. I would never do that if I had to say yes. If you want us to move forward, things have to be done properly, » John Obi Mikel stated.

Working towards transparency means creating an environment conducive to the development of players. The former Chelsea player already has his plan and is making it clear.

« Put the right people in place, those who are on the same page, so that when the players return to play in their home country, they find a good environment to express themselves. »

To achieve his goals, John Obi Mikel is relying on his experience with Nigeria’s various national teams. With the Super Eagles, he won the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations, earned bronze medals at the 2016 London Olympics and the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
