Rubio Rubín Shines for Guatemala and Sets Sights on MLS Return

After helping Guatemala reach the Gold Cup semifinals, Rubio Rubín has caught the attention of several clubs—particularly from South America. But as Diario AS reported, the 29-year-old striker remains focused on one goal: returning to Major League Soccer. While international interest grows, Rubín has made it clear that his priority lies in reigniting his career in the U.S. top flight.
Currently playing in the USL Championship with Charleston Battery, Rubín continues to pursue higher competition. The Oregon native has built a varied career with stops in Denmark, the Netherlands, Liga MX, and MLS, where he tallied 12 goals and 11 assists in 93 matches for Real Salt Lake.
Despite reported offers from abroad, Rubín's heart is set on the MLS. His performances for Guatemala—who finished third in the 2025 Gold Cup—have reignited fan enthusiasm, with many urging clubs to make a move. Though his minutes in Charleston have been limited, the forward’s experience and drive keep him firmly in the spotlight.
