Royal Challengers Bengaluru rewrites IPL history with fastest 200+ chase in tournament history
Royal Challengers Bengaluru kicked off the 2026 IPL season with a historic feat, registering the fastest successful 200+ chase in the tournament's history. Facing Sunrisers Hyderabad, the team racked up 202 runs in just 15.4 overs, setting a new benchmark for the league.
The previous record belonged to the Rajasthan Royals, who managed a similar chase in 15.5 overs last season against Gujarat Titans.
The star of the night was Virat Kohli, who delivered yet another high-impact performance, recording his seventh 50+ score against SRH—more than any other batter in history against this team. In total, he has amassed 874 runs against the Sunrisers, another record to his name.
This match was a bold statement of intent from RCB in the new season: not only did they launch their title defense with a commanding win, but they also instantly etched their names into the IPL record books.
