Rosario Central continues strengthening its squad ahead of the Clausura Tournament. Just hours after Ángel Di María’s official presentation, the club confirmed the return of striker Alejo Véliz, who joins on loan from Tottenham Hotspur until June 30, 2026.
The 21-year-old forward spent last season on loan at Espanyol, scoring four goals. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Central and Tottenham reached an agreement for a loan deal with no fee or purchase option. Véliz will travel to Argentina shortly for medical tests before signing his contract and joining Ariel Holan’s squad, with plans to make his debut by the second or third match of the tournament.
During his first spell at the club, Véliz made 63 appearances, scoring 19 goals and providing two assists. His return comes amid growing excitement in Rosario, especially after Di María revealed a private conversation between them. “He told me to send him greetings and I said, ‘If I do that, it means you’re coming,’” said Di María on ESPN. “He’s young, has a future in Europe, but dreaming of playing together at the Gigante is beautiful.”
With Véliz and Di María leading the attack, Rosario Central is shaping up to be a serious contender, and fans are beginning to dream big.
