Rosario Central Take Cautious Stance as Di María Nears Benfica Exit

Ángel Di María will leave Benfica after the 2025 Club World Cup, reigniting speculation about a long-awaited return to Rosario Central. But this time, the Argentine club has opted for silence. According to TyC Sports, no formal contact has been made, and the club’s leadership is taking a step back from the spotlight.
The breakdown of talks in 2024, during Di María’s Copa América stint, led to public friction involving fans, directors, and the player’s entourage—creating a tense atmosphere that still lingers. As a result, the board now insists any future move must be initiated by Di María himself.
Head coach Ariel Holan commented: “Any manager would love a player of his quality, but these are deeply personal decisions. Central is a well-run club and growing. If it happens, it’ll be because he wants it.”
While Di María prepares for the Club World Cup with Benfica, Rosario Central remain focused on their domestic title race. For now, the ball is firmly in Di María’s court.
