Legendary player of Manchester United and Everton, Wayne Rooney, was appointed as the head coach of Birmingham on October 11th after his departure from D.C. United.

Birmingham, a Championship club, occupied the sixth position with eighteen points after eleven rounds prior to Rooney's arrival. Under his guidance, the club has played five matches, losing four and drawing one. Currently, Birmingham is in eighteenth place in the Championship with nineteen points.

Rooney noted that his team faced strong opponents but he sees an evolving dynamic in Birmingham's game.

"We've been up against some very good teams. In the first two games, we weren't good enough, but then, of course, we were trying to instill a lot in the players, making a lot of changes.

However, in the last three games, there were positive moments; I've seen improvements. Yet, it's necessary to improve both results, and I'm confident that will happen."

Rooney embarked on his coaching career with Derby County in 2019, moving up from an assistant role to interim manager within a year, and then officially taking the helm of the club. However, just a year into his tenure, Derby County was relegated from the Championship to League One, prompting his exit from the team. Subsequently, in the past year, the Englishman was appointed as the head coach of D.C. United in the MLS. There too, he couldn't achieve remarkable results, as the club finished twelfth in the Eastern Conference and failed to advance to the Final Series.Rooney mutually parted ways with the team last summer.
