Rooney criticizes Man United players for lack of effort on the pitch

Recent results from Manchester United may only be pleasing for the club’s detractors. However, club legends are voicing concerns about the team’s performance, placing responsibility not only on the head coach but also on the players themselves.

Details: United’s all-time leading scorer Wayne Rooney has stated that Erik ten Hag is a good coach, but the issue lies with the players, who are not putting in enough effort and need to step up their game.

Quote: "Obviously, it depends on the club's owners. I’m sure ten Hag is a fantastic coach. He’s won trophies everywhere he's been, including Manchester United. So yes, he’s going through a tough period, and I think he would say the same himself. I know that ten Hag is doing everything possible to improve the situation. The players—and I said this last season—need to do more than what they are currently showing,” Rooney said on Sky Sports.

Reminder: It was recently reported that Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is considering parting ways with ten Hag.
