Portugal captain and the leading goalscorer in the history of the national team, Cristiano Ronaldo, will continue his international career.

Details: 41-year-old forward Cristiano Ronaldo will remain with the Portugal squad and continue representing his country. The new head coach of the European Seleção, Jorge Jesus, has officially announced the squad for the upcoming international fixtures, including the veteran superstar among the called-up players.

The appointment of the new manager sparked widespread speculation about a possible squad overhaul and the end of the legendary goalscorer’s era with the national team. However, Jesus immediately put an end to such talk, stressing that Ronaldo’s unquestionable authority, professionalism and goalscoring instinct remain enormously valuable in building a winning team.

Cristiano Ronaldo holds the international records for appearances and goals, having made more than 230 appearances and scored over 140 goals for Portugal. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner and 2016 European champion continues to maintain impressive form at Saudi club Al-Nassr, remaining a key role model for the next generation of Portuguese talent.

Portugal will soon face Wales, Norway and Denmark in the UEFA Nations League.
