Real Valladolid officially announced on Friday that majority ownership of the club, held by Ronaldo Nazário, has been sold to a U.S.-based investment group with financial backing from a European fund, according to a statement on the club’s website.

The deal, which marks the end of Ronaldo’s leadership at the Spanish side, is pending approval from Spain’s National Sports Council as required by current regulations. More information on the incoming project will be released in the coming days.

The sale follows a dismal campaign that saw Valladolid relegated to the second division after securing just 16 points in 37 games. Ronaldo acquired a 51% stake in the club back in September 2018. His tenure included both promotions and controversy, notably a proposed logo change in 2022 that was abandoned in 2024 due to fan backlash.

The club expressed gratitude to fans, media, and stakeholders for their understanding and support during this transition, signaling the close of a seven-year chapter and the start of a new era under international ownership.
