Portugal national team winger Francisco Conceição has faced a massive wave of hate and cyberbullying from the die-hard fans of his superstar captain, Cristiano Ronaldo.
Details: The reason for this fierce online onslaught was the young player's calm and professional remarks during a media appearance.
During one interview, a journalist asked Conceição whether Portuguese players feel constant mental pressure and the temptation to always look for Ronaldo on the pitch with their passes, even when he's not in an advantageous or open position.
Francisco's response was as honest and team-oriented as it gets:
“Not at all. When it comes to finishing attacks, there's no one better than Cristiano Ronaldo. But we don't have to give the ball only to him. During the game, I pass to whoever is in the best position. It all happens instinctively. Cristiano is here to help the team, just like any other player in the squad.”
Even though Conceição emphasized Ronaldo's greatness, his comment that Cristiano is "just like any other player" infuriated the most radical supporters of the five-time Ballon d'Or winner. In just a few hours, Francisco's latest Instagram post racked up more than 9,000 angry and insulting comments.
Reminder: Georgina gave Cristiano Ronaldo's son an unforgettable 16th birthday during the 2026 World Cup.
