Rodrigo Garro Travels to Spain for Knee Treatment and Will Miss Time Indefinitely
Rodrigo Garro, Corinthians' Argentine midfielder, flew to Madrid on Monday to undergo an innovative treatment for patellar tendinopathy in his right knee. The injury has sidelined him indefinitely, and the club announced the procedure will be coordinated by its medical department at a rehabilitation center in the Spanish capital.
Garro is scheduled to remain in Spain for a week before returning to continue his recovery at the Joaquim Grava training complex in São Paulo. While no club staff accompanied him, he will follow the rehabilitation plan outlined by Corinthians' medical team.
The 26-year-old has been struggling with knee issues since late 2024, having played through pain during the final stretch of the Brasileirão. In 2025, his condition worsened, affecting his preseason preparation. Remarkably, Garro took the field in last week's São Paulo state final against Palmeiras after receiving injections to numb the pain.
Emiliano Díaz, assistant to head coach Ramón Díaz, praised Garro’s commitment: “He texted us, ‘I’ll play even if it’s the last match of my career.’” Corinthians has not provided a timeline for his return, but his progress will depend on the outcome of the treatment in Spain.
Garro is expected to rejoin the squad early next week.
