Having been a free agent since leaving Al Ahli this summer, the former Algerian international is expected to continue his career in the Qatar Stars League.

Riyad Mahrez is reportedly close to signing for Al Shamal, a club competing in the Qatari professional league. The 35-year-old Algerian winger is set to take on a new challenge in the Gulf following his spell in the Saudi Pro League.

According to reports, the former Algerian international’s move to Al Shamal could be made official soon. If the transfer goes ahead, Riyad Mahrez will bring his experience to his new team in the Qatari professional league. The Algerian forward has played in Europe for Le Havre, Leicester City and Manchester City.

Following his spell in England, the former Algerian international joined Al Ahli in Saudi Arabia in 2023. Having left the Saudi Pro League three months ago, Mahrez could be set to discover a new league by moving to Qatar.

The 2019 African champion is therefore preparing to embark on a new chapter in his career with Al Shamal, where his experience could prove to be a major asset for the Qatari club.
