Riyad Mahrez bids emotional farewell to Al Ahli
The Algerian right-winger has sent a moving message to the Saudi club, which he left when his contract expired last July.
Riyad Mahrez has officially turned the page on his time at Al Ahli. But before parting ways with his former team for good, the 35-year-old Algerian was keen to send a message of gratitude.
“As you already know, my time at the club is coming to an end, but I didn’t want to leave without expressing my respect and gratitude to you all. It has been a special chapter in my career and in my life. I’ve met some incredible people who are helping to shape the future of football in Saudi Arabia.”
The former Manchester City player also said he was proud to have worn the Al Ahli colours and to have shared the joy of winning trophies with the club.
“I’m proud to have worn these colours and to have shared the joy of winning trophies together. It was an honour to represent this club. To the board of directors, the coaching staff, everyone working behind the scenes and all my team-mates, thank you for everything. Thank you for your support every day. I hope you’ve enjoyed this journey as much as I have. See you next time.”
Riyad Mahrez is expected to continue his career in Qatar with Al-Shamal as a free agent.
