Rivers United Collapse Late as RS Berkane Seal Dramatic Away Win

Rivers United suffered a heartbreaking 2–1 defeat to RS Berkane in Friday’s CAF Champions League group match at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo. The Nigerian side looked in control after a disciplined first half that gave them a 1–0 lead at the break.

But the game changed dramatically in added time. Youness El Kaabi levelled the score in the 90+7 minute after a late surge by the visitors. Just a minute later, Mehdi Chouiar completed the comeback at 90+8, leaving home fans stunned as Berkane snatched all three points.

Rivers United brought on O. Duke, S. Oguntayo, W. Samuel, D. Sholumade, and T. Otaniyi to protect their lead, but defensive lapses proved costly. The team also received three yellow cards, including one for B. B. Martins in added time.
