Rivers United Claim Late Win to Go Second

Rivers United moved up to second place in the NPFL after a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Plateau United at the New Jos Township Stadium. The team, coached by Finidi George, has played fewer matches because of their CAF Champions League schedule but has now secured three straight league wins since their 1-2 loss to RS Berkane.

Plateau United struck first in the 21st minute through Silas Nimrot and held the lead until halftime. Rivers United responded in the 55th minute when David Sholumade scored the equaliser, pushing the visitors to chase the winner. Their pressure paid off with a stoppage-time goal that sealed the comeback.

The win takes Rivers United to 30 points, level with leaders Nasarawa United, who remain top on goal difference.
