Rivers United Boss Confident Team Will Recover

Rivers United manager Finidi George says the team will “bounce back” despite their difficult run of results in the CAF Champions League and NPFL. The Pride of Rivers opened their continental campaign with a loss to Egypt’s Pyramids and then fell 2–1 at home to Morocco’s RS Berkane. Their narrow 1–0 win over Kano Pillars on Wednesday did little to calm fans who are beginning to doubt the team’s readiness for the season.

Finidi admitted the defeat to Berkane affected the squad, saying it “affected the players psychologically” and made it hard to motivate them. He explained that the first half against Pillars was sloppy, but the team “pushed” after the break and were “quite happy with the three points.”

He assured supporters that Rivers United will regain form soon, promising improved performances ahead of Sunday’s NPFL clash with Abia Warriors.
