River Plate has reached a verbal agreement with Betano to become the club’s new main shirt sponsor starting August 1, according to TyC Sports. The initial deal is set to run through July 31, 2027, with an option for a one-year extension, marking a significant commercial upgrade for the Argentine giants.
The agreement reportedly includes a base payment of $6 million per year, nearly doubling the club’s current deal with Codere, which stands at $3.5 million annually. In addition, performance-based bonuses for titles won during the contract period could substantially increase the total income generated by the partnership.
Betano, an international sports betting operator with growing presence in South America, already sponsors several major football clubs across the continent. Its entry into the River Plate brand portfolio signals a major step in its regional expansion, while for River it represents a timely financial boost.
The current deal with Codere will conclude following River's participation in the upcoming Club World Cup, making it the final tournament under the existing sponsorship. If finalized, the Betano logo will debut on River’s iconic kit in the latter half of 2025.
While the agreement has not yet been signed, club officials are optimistic and expect the deal to be formalized soon. Concept designs of the jersey featuring the Betano branding have already surfaced online, fueling anticipation among fans ahead of a new commercial era at the club.
