RIP. Tragedy in Norway’s mountains! Famous athlete dies at the peak of her career

The global trail running and athletics community has been left shocked by the senseless death of one of Europe’s most gifted athletes.

Details: Norwegian trail runner and Asics Trail Team athlete Ida Amelie Robsahm has tragically died at the age of 30. The accident occurred while she was tackling a route along the famous Romsdalseggen mountain ridge, where the athlete fell from a cliff near the summit, plunging several dozen metres.

Emergency services and a rescue helicopter arrived at the scene promptly, but her injuries proved fatal. Robsahm’s death has sent shockwaves through the sporting world, as the Norwegian was at the absolute peak of her form and consistently delivered outstanding performances on both the most demanding mountain courses and classic road races.

It is worth noting that the athlete regularly challenged for podium finishes at the most prestigious international events. Her achievements included fourth place at the iconic Zegama-Aizkorri mountain race, finishing just behind Tove Alexandersson, Malen Osa and Sara Alonso, as well as fifth place in the OCC race at the legendary UTMB Mont-Blanc festival. In addition, Robsahm made a major statement on the road in December 2025, completing the Valencia Marathon in a world-class time of 2:29:57.
