RIP. Legendary former Georgia captain passes away

Former Georgia national team captain and Dundee midfielder Giorgi Nemsadze has died at the age of 54.

Details: The tragic news was officially announced by Tbilisi-based football club Dinamo, where the outstanding midfielder began and ended his professional playing career. The Georgian powerhouse's management said it received the news of the loss of its celebrated academy graduate «with a heavy heart», expressing its sincere condolences on Instagram.

The Football Federation of Georgia, the athlete's former teammates and clubs from abroad also expressed their deepest sympathies to his family and friends. In Scotland, the Georgian midfielder's impressive spell at Dens Park is remembered with particular warmth, as he won the unconditional love of the fans through his unquestionable authority, passing ability and fighting spirit.

It is worth noting that Giorgi Nemsadze made nearly 70 official appearances for the Georgia national team, serving for many years as captain and as the cornerstone of the Crusaders' midfield. At club level, he won the Georgian league and cup multiple times with Dinamo Tbilisi, while also playing in the championships of Italy, Switzerland, Turkey and Scotland, earning a reputation as one of the most respected Georgian footballers of his generation.
