Details: Today, UEFA's official page on social network X announced that Dimitar Penev, the iconic CSKA Sofia and Bulgaria national team defender, has passed away at the age of 80.
Penev gained widespread recognition for his performances with CSKA Sofia, where he won 7 Bulgarian Cups, 4 Bulgarian league titles, and was twice named Bulgaria's Player of the Year in 1967 and 1971.
Dimitar Penev was part of the legendary Bulgarian national team that reached the semi-finals of the 1994 World Cup, where Bulgaria lost to Italy 1-2 and then fell to Sweden 0-4 in the third-place match.
Today, a funeral for the legendary Bulgarian defender was held at Vasil Levski Stadium in Sofia.
