Details: Portuguese football has been rocked by tragic news—former Benfica player Manu has died in a road accident.
According to Correio de Manha, the accident occurred on Saturday at around 18:30 in the Vermoesh area, located in the Sobral de Monte Agraço municipality. Reports indicate the ex-footballer was alone in the car and lost control of the vehicle.
After losing control, the car veered off the road and overturned. The injuries Manu sustained proved fatal, and rescuers were unable to save him.
Local law enforcement is still investigating the circumstances of the tragedy. News of the former footballer's death has sparked an outpouring of condolences from the football community and fans alike.
During his time with the "Eagles," the winger featured in 16 matches and provided 3 assists. Over his career, Emanuel also played for Marítimo, AEK (Athens), Legia Warsaw, Alverca, Estrela, and even had a stint in China. He hung up his boots in 2019.
